Advanced training & education

CSP educates future leaders in conservation science — graduate students, undergraduate students, and postdoctoral fellows — in an applied, real world setting. We provide these opportunities through our existing academic relationships or appointments with Northern Arizona University, Colorado State University, University of Nevada–Reno, Duke University, and other institutions. We also offer unique volunteer opportunities for a wide range of science-minded citizens and stakeholders in conservation.

In addition to in situ training, CSP offers creative leadership development workshops that are custom-designed for conservation fellowship groups.

Recent Projects

  • Conducting creative leadership development workshops with emerging and mid-career conservationists in China and Indonesia with the Conservation Leadership Programme
  • Working to increase the efficiency and conservation impact of other nonprofit organizations in the Tahoe-Truckee region and across the West, with support from our foundation partners
  • Contributing to the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program at Northern Arizona University, in collaboration with the Grand Canyon Trust and with funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation
