Analyses by CSP used to support a new resolution in the U.S. Senate to conserve 30% of nature by 2030.

Yesterday, Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) laid out a bold conservation agenda for the future to address the nature, extinction, and climate crises, and announced a major new resolution he is introducing with Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) – the Thirty by Thirty Resolution to Save Nature.

Over the past year, CSP scientists have been working to support a new report by the Center for American Progress (CAP) that examine how the United States can thoughtfully, equitably, and justly protect at least 30 percent of its land and ocean area by 2030—also referred to as a “30×30” conservation goal.

The CAP press release is here. And here is the official press release announcing the Udall-Bennet ‘Thirty by Thirty Resolution to Save Nature,’ which has seven other original cosponsors, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Booker, and Sen. Harris. The text of the new resolution is here.
